A short history
The modern Macanudo brand dates from 1971 and is made by General Cigar. Production moved from Jamaica to the Dominican Republic in 2000, where the cigars are made today. Its lines include Café, Inspirado, Cru Royale and Maduro.
The Macanudo cigars we carry
- Ascot cigarillos (mild to mild-medium): short, slim cigars for a quick smoke. We carry the Ascot Connecticut and Ascot Maduro, also in 10 packs.
- Connecticut (mild): the Hyde Park is a classic mild robusto.
- Inspirado Ecuador (mild-medium): the Robusto, Toro and Churchill.
- Inspirado Nicaragua and Broadleaf (medium-full): the Inspirado Nicaragua Robusto, Toro and Inspirado Broadleaf Robusto.
- Macanudo M: the M Coffee Toro and M Espresso Toro, both mild-medium.
Where to start
For a first cigar, try the Hyde Park or an Ascot. If you want more flavour without jumping to full strength, move to the Inspirado Ecuador. The Inspirado Nicaragua and Broadleaf are the fullest Macanudos we carry. Ring gauge is a cigar’s diameter measured in 64ths of an inch, so a 50 ring gauge cigar is 50/64 of an inch across.
Keeping them fresh
Store your cigars at 65 to 70% relative humidity and around 18 to 21°C, away from sunlight. Our storage guide explains how, and we carry humidors in store.
