How to choose a cigar

Strength

Strength is how full-bodied a cigar tastes, from mild to full. Mild and mild-medium cigars are smoother and lighter. Full cigars are richer and more intense.

Size

Size is the cigar’s shape, called a vitola, plus its ring gauge: the diameter in 64ths of an inch. A Robusto is about 5 inches by 50, a Toro about 6 by 50 to 52, and a Churchill about 7 by 47 to 48.

Origin

Cuban cigars use only tobacco grown in Cuba. Cigars from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras often blend leaf from several countries, which is why some list more than one origin.

Storage

Keep cigars at 65 to 70% relative humidity and around 18 to 21°C, away from sunlight. Read our storage guide or browse humidors.

Cigar questions

Are Cuban cigars legal to buy in Canada?

Yes. Canada has no trade embargo on Cuba, so Cuban cigars are legally imported and sold here. Bringing them into another country depends on that country’s rules.

How old do I need to be to buy cigars?

You must be 19 or older to buy tobacco in British Columbia, and we check ID in store.

Are your cigars authentic?

Yes. We source from authorized distributors, and every cigar we sell carries its warranty seal and a traceable origin.

Which cigar should I try first?

A mild or mild-medium Robusto is an easy place to start: short enough to finish in under an hour and smooth in flavour. Use the Strength filter above, or ask our team in store.

How should I store cigars at home?

Keep them at 65 to 70% relative humidity and around 18 to 21°C. A humidor holds those conditions steady for months. See our storage guide.
