My Father Cigars is a family company from Estelí, Nicaragua, and three of its lines have won Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year. We carry all three at our Gastown shop. See everything we stock on our My Father cigars in Vancouver page.
The Garcia family
My Father Cigars is the company of José “Pepín” García and his children, Jaime and Janny. The family opened a factory in Miami in 2003, released the first My Father blend in 2008 and makes its cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Three Cigar of the Year lines
- Flor de las Antillas (medium-full), Cigar of the Year 2012: we carry the Robusto, Toro, Belicoso and Maduro Toro.
- Le Bijou 1922 (full), Cigar of the Year 2015: the Grand Robusto and Torpedo.
- The Judge (full), Cigar of the Year 2024: the The Judge Robusto.
More from My Father
We also carry the My Father No. 1 Robusto and No. 5 Toro, both full, and the La Promesa Toro at medium-full.
Where to start
My Father cigars lean strong. Flor de las Antillas is the most approachable of the award winners; Le Bijou 1922 and The Judge suit experienced smokers. A belicoso has a tapered, pointed head, while a torpedo tapers more sharply. Ring gauge is a cigar’s diameter measured in 64ths of an inch, so a 50 ring gauge cigar is 50/64 of an inch across.
Keeping them fresh
Store your cigars at 65 to 70% relative humidity and around 18 to 21°C, away from sunlight. Our storage guide explains how, and we carry humidors in store.
